Errol McConnell signs for 2 years at the Panthers
In really great news for our tilt at 2019 we have been able to secure someone who I personally was keen to attract to the club, the prospect of coaching such a ferocious competitor as Errol is what every coach wants and I will be looking to harness both his skill and ferocious intent on the football as a core building block to our game plan. He will complement our already strong midfield and is looking forward to reuniting with Ben Allan.
Here is a great public reference from a past coach of Errol:
“I reckon we had the toughest player in Casey Summerfield and then Errol comes along,” the coach said.
“In the very first quarter of the very first game of the year against Wallan, one of their star recruits went to fend off and Errol just brought him down like a lion would bring down a gazelle.
“He tackles and is just ferocious.”
Tough tackling young gun Errol McConnell was awarded the Doug McIntyre Medal for best on ground with a superb performance through the middle.
Andrews regards the 22-year-old, who played about 40 VFL games with Coburg, as “pound-for-pound, the toughest player I’ve seen in the competition”.
